Gender Budgeting: A Toof for Inclusive Development

By addressing gender inequities and guaranteeing equitable resource allocation, gender budgeting hasbecome a vital instrument for advancing inclusive development. This study examines the concept,implementation, and impact of gender budgeting in India, with a focus on its role in achieving genderequality and inclusive development. The study examines changes in gender-specific budgetary allocations,assesses their efficacy, and describes implementation issues using secondary data from government papers,reports, and scholarly literature. Key findings show that although gender budgeting has improved women'seconomic involvement, maternal health, and girls' education, its effects are still restricted because of a lackof knowledge among policymakers, insufficient funding, and insufficient monitoring systems. The reportprovides insightful insights for enhancing gender budgeting in India by highlighting successful case studiesfrom states like Tamil Nadu and Kerala as well as international best practices. Increasing financialallocations, strengthening institutional procedures, and combining gender budgeting with otherdevelopment programs like digital inclusion and climate action are some policy ideas. The study alsounderscores the critical role of social workers in advocating for gender-responsive policies and facilitatingcommunity engagement. This study offers a comprehensive knowledge of gender budgeting and its potentialto promote inclusive development by fusing ideas from gender studies, social work, and economics.
