Abstract

Abstract : This study examines the effect of corporate governance and Product responsibility on the financial performance of United Kingdom Retail Industry. The study made use of the quantitative research method. The sample of the study comprises of ten (10) companies over a period of ten years, from 2013 to 2022 by utilizing simple random sampling technique. Data were analysed using a simple linear regression model in SPSS and regression analysis. The findings of the study revealed that corporate governance exhibits a significant positive correlation with financial performance and also product responsibility a form of CSR has a significant relationship with financial performance of a company. The study concluded that companies in the UK retail industry that embrace sound governance practices are likely to experience improved financial performance. Consequent upon this study, it was recommended among others that businesses to adopt Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) as a strategic tool rather than an optional addition. This entails aligning corporate operations with social standards and elevating stakeholder satisfaction, which can lead to an improvement in financial performance.
