Training Programmes for Community Health Workers on Tuberculosis Awareness in Kibera Slum Residents: Knowledge Gain Analysis

Tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health challenge in Kibera Slum, Kenya, despite various awareness campaigns. A mixed-methods approach was employed including surveys and focus group discussions with CHWs and community members. CHWs demonstrated a significant increase in TB-related knowledge, with an average improvement of 25% compared to pre-training levels (p < 0. 01). Training programmes effectively enhanced CHWs' understanding of TB awareness; further research is needed for community impact. Continued training and support are recommended to sustain knowledge gains among CHWs and improve TB awareness in the Kibera Slum.
