Abstract

The effectiveness of community health workers (CHWs) in tuberculosis (TB) screening and treatment adherence is a critical area for public health initiatives. A comprehensive literature review was conducted to analyse studies evaluating CHW training programmes in TB management within Eritrea. CHWs demonstrated an 85% accuracy rate in identifying smear-positive TB cases during screening, with treatment adherence rates reaching 90% among participants who completed the programme. The review supports the positive impact of CHW training on TB management outcomes in Eritrea, highlighting their role as crucial partners in public health efforts. Further research should focus on extending these programmes to rural areas and evaluating long-term adherence rates. Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
