YZYong ZengSZSheng ZhangDLDaiming Li

Key Points

  • Physical activity participation among rural older adults is significantly influenced by the community environment.
  • Access to fitness facilities and activity spaces is crucial for promoting physical activity, especially in rural areas.
  • Community-based physical activity instructor systems can enhance participation and adherence to fitness programs among older adults.
  • Developing infrastructure and resources in rural communities may support overall health and wellbeing for older populations.

Abstract

The community environment, including access to fitness facilities, outdoor activity spaces, and activity guidance, is associated with promoting physical activity among rural older adults. Strengthening the development of fundamental activity facilities in rural communities and accelerating the establishment of a community-based physical activity instructor system are recommended to advance the implementation of the national fitness strategy.
