Abstract

A 61-year-old female patient underwent cataract phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in her left eye. During a follow-up examination 1 week postsurgery, significant corneal edema and extensive detachment of Descemet’s membrane (DM) were observed in the left eye. Ultra-widefield swept-source OCT (SS-OCT) revealed a corneal thickness of 1011 μm Fig. 1. Descemet’s membrane detachment (DMD) refers to the separation of the DM from the posterior stroma, resulting in fluid accumulation in the pre-Descemet’s space, which leads to stromal and epithelial edema and a consequent decrease in vision.1,2 Following air descemetopexy, the cornea cleared, and the DM separation line became clearly visible. The DM was fully reattached, and the corneal thickness decreased to 512 μm Fig. 1.
