Key Points

  • Modified Dachengqi Decoction significantly reduces lung injury associated with sepsis, highlighting its therapeutic potential.
  • The study indicates that LPS-induced lung injury is mitigated by the modulation of the gut microbiota-bile acid metabolism.
  • Assessment using modern pharmacological methods reveals the activation of FXR as a key mechanism underlying the treatment effects.
  • This finding may enable new strategies for sepsis management through targeted gut microbiome interventions.

Abstract

MDD can alleviate LPS-induced SI-ALI by modulating the gut microbiota-bile acid metabolism, activating FXR, and thereby suppressing the TLR4/MYD88-mediated inflammatory cascade and NETs generation.
