Abstract

Open data initiatives have emerged as a critical tool for enhancing transparency in governance and promoting accountability. No empirical results are provided; this Data Descriptor describes the collection and organisation of open data related to governance in Kenya for analysis. The collected dataset includes approximately 150 public documents and reports, covering a broad spectrum of government activities such as education funding, health care expenditure, and infrastructure projects. Key themes identified include financial management practices, procurement processes, and service delivery effectiveness. Despite the limited scope of the study, the structured open data collection provides a foundation for future research into governance transparency in Kenya. Further studies should focus on analysing the specific impacts of these open data initiatives on public trust and policy outcomes. Model estimation used =argmin_ᵢ (yᵢ, f_ (xᵢ) ) +₂², with performance evaluated using out-of-sample error.
