Gas Bremsstrahlung Evaluation for the DAFNE Project

FAFerrari A.LLLiberatori L.PMPelliccioni M.

Key Points

  • This research aims to evaluate the bremsstrahlung radiation produced by electron and positron interactions with residual gas in the DAFNE Project.
  • Utilized the FLUKA code for modeling radiation
  • Measured photon spectra
  • Calculated fluence rates and tissue absorbed dose rates
  • Detailed photon spectra were generated
  • Quantitative estimates of fluence rate reported
  • Absorbed dose rates evaluated for safety assessments

Abstract

Bremsstrahlung produced in the storage rings of the DAPHNE Project by the interactions of electrons and positrons with the residual gas in vacuum chambers has been studied using the FLUKA code. Photon spectra and quantitative estimates of fluence rate and tissue absorbed dose rate are given. On the basis of the obtained results the precautions to take are discussed.
