Abstract

Background: This study aimed to examine 5-year all-cause mortality in endovascularly treated patients with peripheral arterial disease of the lower extremities with and without diabetes mellitus (DM), and to identify factors associated with mortality in the DM subgroup. Patients and methods: Patients treated between January 2016 and December 2018 were analysed. Multivariable models were adjusted for age, sex, smoking, chronic limb-threatening ischaemia (CLTI), malignancy, dyslipoproteinaemia, heart failure, fibrinogen, and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR). Results: A total of 676 patients were included; 59.6% had DM. Patients with DM had higher mortality compared to those without DM (56.8% vs. 37.0%, p 2; p Conclusions: Mortality did not differ between patients with and without DM after multivariable adjustment.
