Background: Upper eyelid blepharoplasty is one of the most commonly performed aesthetic and functional procedures in facial plastic surgery. The method of skin closure plays a significant role in determining scar quality, healing time, and patient satisfaction. Objective: This clinical study compares the efficacy and outcomes of interrupted suture technique versus intradermal suture technique in upper eyelid blepharoplasty, focusing on parameters such as scar visibility, patient satisfaction and aesthetic outcomes. The study aims to provide evidence-based guidance on the optimal suturing technique for superior lid surgery. Methods: A total of 16 patients were divided into two groups of 8: one group underwent wound closure using interrupted suture technique and the other one using intradermal suture technique. The patients scar and satisfaction levels on postoperative days 7, 30, and 3 months were selected. The Manchester Scar Scale was used to evaluate the scar index and Likert Scale was used to evaluate patient satisfaction. Results: The total scar index in the first 7and 30 days were significantly better in the intradermal suture group than interrupted group ( P = 0.000). Then 3 months after surgery there were no significant differences between the two techniques ( P = 0.442). Patient satisfaction was also better in the first 7 and 30 days in intradermal group ( P = 0.000, P = 0.007) then 3 months postoperative there were no significant differences between the two techniques ( P = 0.131) Conclusion: In Upper eyelid blepharoplasty, an intradermal suture technique yielded better rates of patient satisfaction, and scar formation compared with an interrupted suture technique.
