Abstract

The literature review describes the features of medical care organizations for foreign labor migrants, based on Russian and international experience. Adaptation of this social group in the health care system is important to prevent non-work-related labor losses associated with disability. Objective. To identify the specific features of the social group of foreign labor migrants that affect the medical care organization, including primary health care. Materials and methods. A review of publications (2021—2025) from Scopus, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, and eLibrary was conducted on the main topic of “providing medical care to foreign labor migrants.” Results. The scientific literature often discusses the need to integrate foreign citizens into the host country’s health care system. It is proposed to increase labor migrants’ health literacy, improve communication and engagement with the current health insurance system, and leverage digital solutions. The key role of preventive measures in disease prevention is highlighted. The possibilities for nurses and non-profit organization participation are discussed. Conclusion. The organization of medical care for foreign labor migrants has several specific features: low levels of medical literacy among patients and their poor integration into the host country’s health care system, as well as language and cultural barriers. Due to the high prevalence and significant impact of acquired diseases on health in this social group and the importance of preventing non-work-related labor losses due to disability, the focus on adaptation to medical care, including primary health care, with a preventive orientation, is among the promising areas of development.
