Abstract

Abstract: Cross-coupling transformations have emerged as powerful tools in organic synthesis. In recent times, organic synthesis via silver-promoted cross-coupling strategy has become crucial and promising. Silver has provided a unique opportunity in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis owing to it being more economical than other expensive transition metals, excellent selectivity and stability, and environmentally benign nature. The synthetic methodologies are highly advantageous in terms of regioselectivity of yields, broad substrate scope, excellent functional group tolerance, and high conversion ratio. This current review article summarizes the recent developments of silver-catalyzed carbon-carbon and carbon-heteroatom cross-coupling reactions in the field of organic synthesis under ligand- and additive-less conditions. The sustainable techniques employed herein involve the use of non-toxic, low-cost, commercial-grade reagents, environmentally benign, and greener solvents.
