Rural Malawi faces significant challenges in implementing effective HIV/AIDS treatment programmes, with limited resources and infrastructure. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys and qualitative interviews was employed to evaluate CHW performance and patient outcomes. During the study, it was found that CHW coverage fluctuated between 70% and 85%, with significant disparities in service availability across different regions. CHWs played a crucial role in delivering treatment services but exhibited variability in their effectiveness based on local context and resource access. Enhanced training programmes for CHWs, coupled with improved infrastructure support, are recommended to optimise programme delivery and patient care.
