Kenya's protected areas are crucial for biodiversity conservation, yet they face numerous challenges such as habitat degradation and illegal activities. A mixed-method approach including surveys, interviews, and expert consultations was employed to evaluate existing practices and propose enhancements. Conservation efforts have led to a 15% increase in species diversity within the study sites but are hindered by an inadequate proportion (20%) of protected areas with effective management plans. Current strategies need reinforcement through improved governance, funding, and community engagement for sustainable biodiversity conservation. Implementing robust monitoring systems and enhancing collaborative efforts between stakeholders can significantly improve biodiversity outcomes in Kenyan protected areas.
