Key Points

  • To assess the effectiveness of maternal care facilities in Kenya on clinical outcomes for mothers and infants.
  • Conducted a randomized controlled trial with 400 participants across five hospitals.
  • Used pre- and post-trial assessments with validated scales for clinical outcomes.
  • Implemented evidence-based care protocols and continuous monitoring for improvements.
  • Maternal mortality rates decreased by 25% in the intervention group compared to control (p < 0.01).
  • Demonstrated substantial improvements in maternal health outcomes within participating facilities.

Abstract

Maternal care facilities in Kenya often face challenges related to quality of care, leading to suboptimal clinical outcomes for mothers and infants. A randomized controlled trial was conducted with 400 participants across five randomly selected hospitals. Data collection included pre- and post-trial assessments using validated scales for clinical outcomes. Maternal mortality rates showed a significant reduction of 25% in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0. 01, CI: -30%, -20%). The randomized field trial demonstrated substantial improvements in maternal health outcomes across participating facilities. Immediate implementation of evidence-based care protocols and continuous monitoring are recommended for further improvement. Maternal Care, Clinical Outcomes, Randomized Field Trial, Kenya Treatment effect was estimated with logit (pᵢ) =₀+^ Xᵢ, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
