Abstract

Manufacturing systems in Nigerian plants often face challenges related to inefficiencies and increased operational risks. A mixed-method approach combining quantitative panel data analysis with qualitative insights from case studies was employed. Panel Data Estimation (PDE) methodology was used to assess the impact of various control measures on reducing operational risks in manufacturing processes across different plants in Nigeria. Panel data revealed a significant reduction in operational risk when implementing robust quality control measures, indicating that these systems were effective in mitigating risks over time. The study demonstrated the efficacy of PDE for evaluating and improving manufacturing system methodologies in Nigerian industrial settings. Manufacturers should consider adopting comprehensive quality assurance programmes to enhance operational efficiency and risk management. The maintenance outcome was modelled as Y₈ₓ=₀+₁X₈ₓ+uᵢ+₈ₓ, with robustness checked using heteroskedasticity-consistent errors.
