The Republic of Congo has been a significant player in African regional integration efforts, particularly within economic blocs that promote shared development and stability. The research employs a comparative approach, analysing existing literature and official documents from various African regional economic communities (RECs) that include the Republic of Congo. In-depth interviews were conducted with policymakers and scholars to gather insights into current practices and challenges within these blocs. A notable theme emerging from the analysis is the tension between national sovereignty and collective action in shaping Congolese participation within RECs, with a particular focus on economic benefits versus political considerations. The study reveals that while there are instances of successful collaboration among member states within Congo's regional integration efforts, significant obstacles persist due to varying levels of commitment and resource allocation. Future research should consider the impact of global economic trends on Congolese participation in RECs and explore ways to enhance policy coordination for mutual benefit.
