Congenital tuberculosis a rare but present pathology: case reportCongenital tuberculosis is identified as one of the main causes of infectious mortality in childhood, particularly in children under five years old.In newborns, tuberculosis is rarely included within the diagnostic spectrum of causes of sepsis; late identification can contribute to a high mortality rate for the mother-child pair.The case of a premature male newborn at 30 weeks in the context of maternal mortality is presented, who was diagnosed with severe perinatal asphyxia and sensitive congenital pulmonary tuberculosis, with a favorable response to tetravalent treatment, with a negative culture control at two months; however, he died in the third month of treatment due to neurological complications.Additionally, it was not possible to establish the diagnosis of maternal tuberculosis, because she was admitted to the emergency room at 30 weeks of gestation, without prenatal care due to obstructive shock.This case highlights the importance of prenatal care and the identification of curable pathologies such as tuberculosis at this stage.
