Key Points

  • The aim is to synthesize bifunctional arylbutadiynes and investigate their structural and thermal characteristics.
  • Synthesize methyl esters from iodobenzoic acids and 2-methylhexadiyne-3,5-ol-2.
  • Determine the crystal structure using X-ray diffraction (XRD).
  • Analyze thermal behavior via simultaneous thermal analysis in an argon atmosphere.
  • Successfully synthesized methyl esters of 3- and 4-(5-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,3-hexadiyne-1-yl)benzoic acid.
  • XRD confirmed the crystal structure of the synthesized compounds.
  • Thermal analysis revealed the thermal behavior of these compounds in an argon environment.

Abstract

Methyl esters of 3- and 4-(5-hydroxy-5-methyl-1,3-hexadiyne-1-yl)benzoic acid (1, 2) are prepared by the interaction of methyl esters of meta- and para iodobenzoic acids with 2-methylhexadiyne-3,5-ol-2. The crystal structure and structural features of 1 and 2 are determined by XRD. Thermal behavior of these compounds in argon is studied by simultaneous thermal analysis.
