Abstract

The results of studying the influence of the turning mode parameters of fluoroplast-4 on the average temperature in the cutting zone are presented. The study objective is to increase the efficiency of machining blanks made of fluoroplast-4. While turning this material a significant increase in the cutting temperature can lead to deterioration in the surface quality, manufacturing accuracy, loss of product geometry and accelerated wear of the cutting tool, machining efficiency is understood as the mode which has the lowest average cutting temperature. To achieve this objective, the following tasks were solved: experimental planning; experimental studies to assess the average temperature in the cutting zone under various modes; mathematical dependence of the temperature in the cutting zone on the parameters of the machining modes; patterns of changes in the cutting temperature depending on the parameters of the cutting modes. It was found that the lowest cutting temperature occurs at feed rate of S=0.35 mm/rpm and cutting depth of t=1 mm. Changing one or two parameters up or down leads to an increase in the cutting temperature. The novelty of the work is the experimentally found pattern of temperature in the cutting zone, depending on the parameters of the cutting mode.
