Key Points

  • The aim is to examine how the choice of endodontic post affects the mechanical properties of dentine.
  • Introduced various mechanical aspects of treated teeth
  • Compared performance of fiber and metallic posts
  • Utilized numerical modeling for analysis
  • Found that living dentine shows different fatigue life compared to dead dentine
  • Demonstrated that the choice of post influences dentine stiffening ability
  • Highlighted the need for better understanding of dentine dynamics

Abstract

Conversion of the living dentine to dead dentine simply limits its stiffening ability. Dentine fatigue life is an overlooked subject that needs more emphasis. In this paper, we are introducing different mechanical aspects of the endodontically treated teeth regarding the selection of the fiber post or metallic post.
