Key Points

  • The aim is to synthesize and characterize naphthalene-based Schiff base compounds for potential applications.
  • Synthesis of a salen-type ligand with naphthalene parts.
  • Characterization using 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy.
  • Mass spectrometry with ESI-MS.
  • Single crystal X-ray diffraction for detailed structure analysis.
  • Successful synthesis of naphthalene-functionalized ligand was achieved.
  • Characterization confirmed the structure through multiple techniques.
  • High-quality single crystals were obtained for X-ray analysis.

Abstract

The synthesis of a salen-type ligand functionalized with naphthalene moieties, as well as its precursor, are reported. The compounds were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR, ESI-MS spectrometry and single crystal X-ray diffraction.
