Summary The presented article analyzes the problem of Freedom, one of the main problems of Eastern and Western philosophy. The author, emphasizing that the approaches to understanding and analyzing a problem that actually has the same content and essence are very different and diverse, conducts research in this direction and comes to scientific-objective conclusions. One of the conclusions of the author is that while Eastern philosophy emphasizes the interrelationship of phenomena and the limitations of human consciousness in relation to the world, Western philosophy tends to be analytical. Since Western philosophy emphasizes the role of reason and cognitive evidence. The researcher, using materials on ancient Chinese, ancient Indian, Azerbaijani and modern European philosophy, identified the characteristic features of freedom in Eastern and Western philosophy, and also tried to clarify the comparative analysis of the attitude of representatives of both philosophies to the problem of freedom. The results of the study are of practical importance and can be used in teaching courses on the history of philosophy, social philosophy, ethics and multiculturalism. The concept of freedom has a social and practical orientation and can significantly help young people determine value priorities in the context of social interactions.
