Key Points

  • The study aims to identify risk factors associated with persisting symptoms after concussion in adults visiting the emergency department.
  • Evaluated adults presenting with concussion in the emergency department
  • Analyzed variables associated with persisting symptoms at 1 month
  • Assessed time to recovery related to identified risk factors
  • Up to 30% of individuals reported persisting symptoms after concussion
  • Specific risk factors correlated with prolonged recovery times were identified

Abstract

Up to 30% of individuals experience persisting symptoms after concussion (PSaC). Identifying variables associated with prolonged recovery remains a high priority. The objective of this study was to evaluate risk factors of PSaC at 1 month and variables associated with time to recovery in adults presenting to the emergency department (ED) with concussion.
