Key Points

  • This research aims to understand the occurrence and implications of hemorrhagic transformation in patients undergoing intracranial stenting for acute strokes.
  • Analyzed data from the RESISTANT registry.
  • Examined the rates of hemorrhagic transformation post-stenting.
  • Evaluated the impact of antiplatelet therapy on outcomes.
  • Hemorrhagic transformation is a significant complication of intracranial stenting.
  • High-intensity antiplatelet therapy was safe for certain hemorrhagic transformation subtypes.
  • Use of antiplatelet therapy was associated with lower occlusion and mortality rates.

Abstract

HT remains a relevant complication after emergent intracranial stenting, particularly in patients with parenchymal hematoma. High-intensity antiplatelet therapy appears safe in select HT subtypes and was linked to reduced occlusion and mortality.
