Abstract

The Maxprep® Liquid Handler is an automated liquid handling platform developed to streamline forensic DNA sample processing. The system integrates CO-RE® II (Compressed O-Ring Expansion) technology to automate nucleic acid sample preprocessing for purification on Maxwell® instruments, along with quantitative PCR and STR amplification setup. This validation study assessed the performance characteristics of Promega designed automated forensic DNA processing methods on the Maxprep® Liquid Handler in accordance with the Scientific Working Group on DNA Analysis Methods (SWGDAM) guidelines. Validation results confirm that all forensic methods performed as expected, and that the Maxprep® Liquid Handler represents a viable automation solution for forensic DNA sample processing workflows.
