Key Points

  • The aim is to provide a comprehensive dataset on physical fitness measures in central European adults to facilitate research and intervention development.
  • Data collected on 128 central European adults aged 18-40
  • Standardized protocols ensured data comparability
  • Measures included strength, flexibility, stability, and aerobic capacity
  • Provided comprehensive data across multiple fitness domains
  • Supported correlations between physical fitness and health outcomes
  • Filled gaps in existing fitness datasets with extensive measures

Abstract

Physical fitness is a multifaceted construct integral to physical performance, health, and quality of everyday life. Publicly available datasets offering comprehensive fitness assessments across individual or multiple fitness domains in adults from the general population are limited. This dataset presents comprehensive data on physical fitness encompassing anthropometric, body composition, strength, flexibility, postural stability, and aerobic capacity measures in a sample of central European adults (N = 128, aged 18-40). Data was collected using standardized protocols to ensure comparability with the existing body of research. This dataset aims to support cross-disciplinary research, benchmarking, or the development of evidence-based interventions. Potential applications include evaluating individual fitness and the effectiveness of fitness interventions, as well as exploring associations between physical fitness and broader health and behavioral outcomes. This dataset addresses gaps in existing resources by providing an extensive list of measures that cover various aspects of physical fitness, thereby contributing to replicable and generalizable research.
