Abstract

This article discusses the importance of DOIs and metadata for the visibility of knowledge in global bibliographic databases, synthesises findings from recent studies on Crossref metadata, examines new evidence from Crossref on journals hosted on OJS-based Journal.fi platform, lists concrete options for journal editors to improving metadata, and concludes why this matters especially for Finnish-language scholarship. A Finnish-language version of this text has been published on the website of the Federation of Finnish Learned Societies (TSV).
