Abstract

Abstract Pediatric crowns are employed for managing extensive carious lesions, developmental anomalies, and postendodontic procedures. Available crown types include prefabricated stainless steel, preveneered, strip, and zirconia crowns, applicable to both anterior and posterior teeth. The present case report illustrates a novel approach to crafting customized digital pediatric crowns using computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) technology. It focuses on the fabrication of custom tooth-colored zirconia crowns for primary molars. Compared to prefabricated zirconia crowns (PZCs), CAD-CAM designed zirconia crowns exhibit superior esthetics, enhanced occlusal anatomy, and minimal tooth preparation. They also eliminate the need for subgingival preparation, reduce contamination risks, and avoid gingival bleeding during cementation, all while offering improved marginal adaptation. It represents an innovative, minimally invasive, and highly efficient “kid–friendly” technique. This method offers a viable and reliable alternative treatment options over PZCs.
