Abstract

CTS, UNE, and possibly also OA of the CMC-1 joint should be included together with TF and DD when referring to 'the diabetic hand'. The incidence of hand disorders was up to eight times higher among T1D, and both T1D and T2D had more concomitant prevalent diagnoses compared with the population without DM. Future studies should elucidate the pathophysiology behind diabetic hand complications to enable development of effective preventive measures in patients with diabetes.
