Abstract

Abstract: Multiverse analysis is a method that allows researchers to examine how findings from industrial and organizational psychology (IOP) vary depending on how, exactly, they collect, prepare, and analyze their data. As such, multiverse analysis represents a helpful extension to a researcher’s methodological toolkit. Unfortunately, however, multiverse analysis does not seem to be commonly used in IOP. Hence, we seek to make researchers from this discipline aware of this notable method, describe it in detail, show how utilizing it can inform theory and research practices (e. g., how to deal with outliers or control variables), and explain how it can facilitate debates in IOP. Moreover, we discuss potential arguments as to why researchers from IOP have only rarely utilized multiverse analysis in the past and provide counterarguments to address these arguments. Altogether, the goal of the current article is, thus, to support the usage of multiverse analyses.
