Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is rapidly transforming teacher education by reshaping pedagogical interaction promoting sustainable learning practices. This paper explores how AI- driven tools enhance instructional strategies, personalize learning experiences, and support long-term educational sustainability. AI technologies such as intelligent tutoring systems, adaptive learning platforms, automated assessment, and educational chatbots enhance teaching efficiency, personalize learning, and support data-driven decision-making. AI improves teacher–student interaction through real-time feedback, personalized instruction, and collaborative learning environments. At the same time, AI contributes to sustainable learning by promoting lifelong learning, flexible learning environments, and resource-efficient education systems. The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 gave strong emphasis on enhancing the quality of education through holistic learning. Empowerment of Teachers is one of the key focus areas of NEP 2020. The National Education Policy 2020 envisions a transformative shift by integrating Artificial Intelligence in teacher training and professional development programs. However, the integration of AI in teacher education also raises challenges such as ethical concerns, lack of teacher training, data privacy issues, and reduced human interaction. Therefore, effective implementation of AI requires pedagogical training, ethical guidelines, and human-centered approaches to ensure sustainable and meaningful learning in teacher education.
