Single-cell oil (SCO) from oleaginous yeasts is an emerging sustainable alternative to mineral and vegetable oils. In particular, the unconventional yeast Cutaneotrichosporon oleaginosus has drawn attention for its high SCO yields. High-value compounds can be co-produced in biorefineries alongside the SCO. This work aims at further exploring the potential of C. oleaginosus as a microbial cell factory for such value-added co-products.
