Comparative plastid genome analysis of four different variants of Gastrodia elata and development of molecular markers based on plastid DNA sequences

SWSuyin WangQHQingqing HuXZXu Zeng

Key Points

  • To analyze the plastid genomes of different Gastrodia elata variants and develop molecular markers for identification.
  • Conducted comparative plastid genome analysis of four Gastrodia elata variants.
  • Developed InDel markers GEpt11 and GEpt13 based on plastid DNA sequences.
  • Assessed marker effectiveness for distinguishing between G. elata variants.
  • First complete plastome of Gastrodia elata f. flavida reported.
  • InDel markers developed effectively distinguish G. elata variants.
  • Results support applications in germplasm identification and quality control.

Abstract

Here, we report the first complete plastome of Gastrodia elata f. flavida; and development of practical InDel markers GEpt11 and GEpt13 distinguishing G. elata variants. These results providing molecular tools for germplasm identification, breeding, and quality control of G. elata.
