Abstract

Proper lubricant storage is essential for ensuring equipment reliability and minimizing workplace contamination in industrial environments. Lubricants are highly sensitive to environmental factors such as dust, moisture, and temperature variations, which can degrade their quality if not properly managed. This study examines current lubricant storage and handling practices and evaluates the effectiveness of a structured training program in reducing contamination risks and improving overall operational efficiency. A mixed-method approach was employed , including direct workplace observations, employee surveys, and pre- and post-training assessment. Key focus areas included storage conditions, labelling systems, handling procedures, and contamination control measures. The training program was designed to enhance employee awareness and skills related to proper lubricant management ,emphasizing cleanliness, correct sealing, appropriate dispensing techniques, and identification of contamination sources. The findings revealed that prior to the training intervention, there were several deficiencies in storage practices, such as improper sealing, inadequate labelling, and exposure to contaminants. These issues contributed to a higher likelihood of lubricant degradation and equipment inefficiency. Following the training program, there was a noticeable improvement in employees’ understanding and application of best practices. The results also indicated a significant reduction in contamination incidents and better compliance with standard procedures. The study concludes that effective training, combined with proper infrastructure and consistent monitoring, plays a vital role in improving lubricant storage practices. Implementing such measures can significantly reduce workplace contamination, enhance equipment performance, and promote a safer and more efficient industrial environment.
