Archaeological Watching Brief, Pant Pipeline, Llandrinio, Powys

In March 2009, ARCUS were commissioned by Severn Trent Water to undertake an archaeological watching brief on a site at Llandrinio, Powys, centred on NGR SJ 2859 1754. The watching brief was required as a condition of planning consent for redevelopment at the site. The scope of works consisted of a watching brief on easement soil stripping and open cut trench excavations on the route of a water pipeline. The site was of archaeological interest due to crop mark field systems in the vicinity, possibly representing Iron Age or Romano-British enclosures. A previous watching brief in 2008 identified human skull fragments and a pit containing artefacts dating from the Romano-British period. No archaeological remains were identified during the watching brief.
