Abstract

Since its transition to full open access in 2020, Electrochemistry has advanced a series of reforms to establish itself as an international platform for scientific communication. These efforts have led to steady increases in submissions and international contributions, accompanied by a dramatic rise in article downloads, which have grown to more than five times their pre-2020 level. However, further development requires not only quantitative expansion but also improvements in the diversity and academic impact of published research. Supported by JSPS KAKENHI, the journal has set concrete targets, including increasing the proportion of international submissions to approximately 30–40 % and improving the Journal Impact Factor. In 2025, strategic initiatives were implemented, including external consulting by Inlexio Ltd., the development of a dedicated journal website and promotional flyers, and international outreach activities such as collaborations with the JSPS Bonn Office and Kiel University in Germany. In this context, the award-winning papers published in Vol. 93, No. 10 exemplify the level of originality and academic significance that the journal seeks to promote. The future development of Electrochemistry depends on broader participation from the global research community.
