Abstract

This paper investigates the application of Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) as a breakthrough solution for harvesting potable water from the atmosphere in hyper-arid environments. Unlike traditional desiccants, MOFs exhibit exceptional porosity and tunable chemical structures, allowing for efficient water adsorption at relative humidity (RH) levels as low as 10\%. The study focuses on the thermodynamic advantages of MOFs in the context of Turkmenistan’s Karakum Desert, where extreme daytime temperatures and low nighttime humidity prevail. The results emphasize the potential of MOF-based devices to provide high-purity water autonomously using solar thermal energy
