Abstract

Assistive technologies are known to be of significant importance in keeping the safety and efficiency of modern urban environments. Within this context, this paper proposes a smart integrated system, named Smart Street System. The proposed system is developed on the ESP32 platform, aiming to provide real-time information regarding the surrounding environment. For this purpose, a multi-modal sensor fusion technique, including ultrasonic sensors and LDR, is used to detect obstacles and ambient light levels. By applying a logic-based algorithm, it is possible for the system to recognize static objects, indicating potential accidents, and provide real-time information regarding these hazards through the Blynk IoT platform. Furthermore, a five-point fire safety array and a gate control module are integrated into the system, aiming to maintain safety in urban environments. The proposed system is developed in C++, a portable and real-time language, and experimental results indicate that it is able to effectively recognize potential hazards in the environment, enhancing the efficiency of urban infrastructure.
