Groundworks consisted of the removal of a slab and the excavation of a shallow pit to allow for the laying of a cable. One site visit was made, coinciding with the main phases of groundwork. A photographic record of the stratigraphic sequence, specific archaeological features and deposits, and general site circumstances was compiled in digital RAW format. Section drawings and plans were produced at scales 1:10 or 1:20 as appropriate and individual context descriptions were made for each unit of stratigraphy using pro forma recording sheets. The programme of monitoring and recording at Lincoln Castle was too shallow to reveal any significant archaeological deposits. The small excavated pit identified the possible foundations of the existing wall, as well as a deposit which may be the top fill of a cut. No finds were recovered from the groundworks.
