Abstract

Abstract An important player in the development of infrastructure and industry, Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) is a well-known public sector enterprise in India that produces defence items, rail and metro coaches, and heavy earth-moving equipment. This study uses secondary data to examine BEML's growth, productivity, and financial performance from FY 2015–16 to FY 2024–25. Using information from annual reports, government publications, journals, and financial statements, the main goals include analysing financial performance, measuring growth performance, and evaluating operational efficiency. Ratio analysis, trend analysis, comparison analysis, and the ARDL model with limits testing are only a few of the analytical techniques used in the study. With a coefficient of 4.158528, the ARDL regression results show that earnings per share (EPS) have a significant positive impact on net profit. Other variables that exhibit short-run statistical insignificance include revenue (0.000942), total assets (-0.006379), and equity (0.012323). The model exhibits statistical significance (F-statistic = 313796.7, p = 0.0000) and strong explanatory power (R-squared = 0.999998). With an F-statistic of 146305.2, the ARDL Bounds Test confirms Cointegration and a stable long-run equilibrium, indicating a strong long-term link among variables. Despite persistent issues including reliance on particular industries and variations in sales, the results indicate that BEML has seen steady financial growth, increased efficiency, and profitability. Diversification, improving EPS performance, emphasising R&D, and growing export markets are among the recommendations. All things considered, BEML is well-positioned for long-term, sustainable growth, supported by government programs, defence acquisitions, and infrastructure development.
