  • Demonstrated the variation in heat transfer performance compared to atmospheric pressure
  • Validated numerical simulations with experimental observations

Abstract

Nucleate boiling is a phenomenon in various industrial applications, so a lot of findings with various researches are reported. However, the number of studies about nucleate boiling under low pressures are less than that under atmospheric pressure, further findings about it are needed. In the present study, we aim to clarify boiling heat transfer on a cylinder under low pressure. Therefore, bubble motion during pool boiling was observed precisely and temperature on the heated cylinder was measured. The numerical simulation by VOF method was also conducted.
