This paper reports on vertical twin-roll casting of aluminum alloy A7075. Aluminum alloy A7075 is classified among the highest strength grades of aluminum alloys. Due to its lightweight and high strength characteristics, it is used in aircraft and space equipment, but challenges exist regarding corrosion resistance and susceptibility to solidification cracking. Twin-roll casting enables the direct production of thin plates from molten metal, allowing the fabrication of plates beyond conventional plate alloys. The effects of roll peripheral speed on plate continuity, surface condition, and plate thickness were investigated and evaluated through microstructural observation and Vickers hardness testing.
