Key Points

  • The aim is to investigate the flexoelectric effect in 2D nanofluidic channels involving GO membranes.
  • Studied flexion and bending of GO membranes in humid environments
  • Analyzed strain gradient-induced phenomena
  • Measured resultant ionic potential generation
  • Flexing GO membranes induces ionic potentials
  • Ionic potentials arise from dynamic ionic streaming
  • Strain gradients significantly affect ion flow

Abstract

We report a flexo-ionic effect in which bending or flexing GO membranes generates ionic potentials, arising from strain gradient-induced dynamic ionic streaming potentials in humid 2D nanofluidic channels.
