Key Points

  • This research focuses on evaluating a novel phosphor activated by Dy³⁺ ions for white light emitting diode (WLED) applications.
  • Calculated the interaction distance between Dy³⁺ ions in disodium calcium pyrophosphate.
  • Determined photoluminescence decay lifetime and internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of the phosphor.
  • Conducted photometric studies to evaluate CIE coordinates and correlated color temperature (CCT).
  • Observed a PL decay lifetime indicative of efficient light emission.
  • Achieved IQE results that suggest high performance in light output.
  • Found CIE coordinates near the white light region and a CCT greater than 5000 K, confirming suitability for WLED applications.

Abstract

) between Dy³⁺ ions in this host was calculated to be 17 Å, indicating that both nearest-neighbor ion interactions and dipole-dipole interactions were involved. The PL decay lifetime and internal quantum efficiency (IQE) of the synthesized phosphor are determined. Photometric studies reveal that the CIE coordinates fall very close to the white light region, and the CCT value is found to be greater than 5000 K, indicating that the prepared NCPO: Dy³⁺ phosphor is a promising candidate for cool WLEDs for outdoor lighting applications.
