Early surgery should not yet change practice in prosthetic valve endocarditis; leaves open possible benefit in highest-propensity subgroups.
Does early valve replacement reduce in-hospital and 1-year mortality in patients with prosthetic valve endocarditis compared to medical therapy alone?
In patients with prosthetic valve endocarditis, early valve replacement was not associated with improved survival compared to medical therapy after adjusting for survival bias, though benefit was seen in subgroups with the highest surgical propensity.
