Key Points

  • The research aims to understand the crystal structures of A2Se2C2 compounds and their structural disorder.
  • Combined conventional IR/Raman and Rietveld analyses
  • DFT calculations
  • Total scattering data analysis
  • Identified short-range structural disorder in Se–CC–Se dianions
  • Successfully solved crystal structures of A2Se2C2 compounds

Abstract

The crystal structures of A 2 Se 2 C 2 (A = Na–Cs) with an unusual local disorder of − Se–CC–Se − anions were solved by a combination of conventional IR/Raman and Rietveld analyses, DFT calculations, and total scattering data (pair distribution function).
