Valorization of BaCO 3 with 8-HQS to produce the optical chemo-probe for highly selective sensing of Cd 2+ in aqueous media

SSSahel SharifiAMAmin MoghaddasfarGZGhodsi Mohammadi Ziarani

Key Points

  • The aim is to utilize barium carbonate and 8-HQS to create a chemo-probe for detecting cadmium ions in water.
  • Valorization of BaCO3 with 8-HQS to form an optical chemo-probe.
  • Assessment of the probe's selectivity and sensitivity towards Cd2+ in aqueous solutions.
  • The chemo-probe shows highly selective sensing for Cd2+ in aqueous media.
  • Enhanced sensitivity is achieved in comparison to traditional methods.

Abstract

Valorization is considered a method to convert wastes, or low-value substances, through slight modification, into valuable materials. BaCO 3 was valorized with 8-HQS to produce the optical chemo-probe for highly selective sensing of Cd 2+ (aq).
