Abstract

Abstract Background and aims Post-stroke follow-up service works in Ukraine since May 2023. We observe patients for risk factors control, complications detection, rehabilitation planning. Methods We analyzed National Health Service of Ukraine data from discharged patients during February 2023 – December 2024, calculated number of recurrent stroke, rate of risk factors control and complications detection. Results Among 1180 discharged patients 520(44%) - observed; 660(56%) - non-observed. 36,6%(432) patients visited on 3 month, 15,9%(188) – on 6 and further months. In patients consulted by follow-up service risk of recurrent stroke is lower: 8,2%(43) in observed patients and 11,6%(77) in non-observed patients (odds ratio:1,4651, 95% Cl 0.98-2.16, p = 0.0563). Treatment adjustments: in 56,1%(292)patients on 30day, 42,8%(185) – on 3 month, 15,9%(30) – on 6month. Pain detection: in 8,2%(43)patients on 30day, 5,3%(23) – on 3month, 6,3%(12) – on 6month. Depression detection: in 1,3%(7) patients on 30day, 7,8%(34) – on 3month, 6,9%(13) – on 6month. Epilepsy detection: in 7,8%(34) – on 3month, 5,3%(10) – on 6month. Risk factors control: LDL 1,8 was reached in 51,8%(224) - on 3 month, 82,9%(156) – on 6 month; BP 130/80mmHg in 58,8%(306) – on 30day, 67,8%(293) – on 3 month, 85%(160) – on 6 month; HbA1C 7,0% in 62,5%(270) – on 3 month and 82,9%(165) – on 6 month. Conclusions We need longer observation for further conclusions about recurrent stroke. Demand for treatment correction is higher at first months after stroke. Long-term observation can help to gain better risk factors control, complications detection.
